World Heritage Review 103: 50th anniversary of the World Heritage Convention

On 16 November 2022, the World Heritage Convention celebrated its 50th anniversary. This issue traces the evolution of the Convention over these five decades, through emblematic preservation stories and the experiences of experts and site managers.

While an anniversary marks a time to look back at the past, it also calls for looking forward and reflecting on challenges posed by climate change, sustainable tourism, digital transformation, and post-COVID-19 recovery.
